Somersfield Athletes Represent Bermuda in Women's Pan American Field Hockey Challenge
Grace Lightowler '26, Georgia Harris '11, Chrysda Smith '17, and PE teacher Megan Troake will proudly represent Bermuda in the Women's Pan American Challenge, competing in hopes of securing qualification for the 2027 Pan American Games.

Tennis and Pickleball Festival: Skill, Sportsmanship, and Camaraderie
Somersfield upper primary students from participated in tennis and pickleball festivals at W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium. Guided by top coaches, the students honed their skills in the mornings and played matches in the afternoons. Despite the heat, they showed resilience, progress, and exemplary sportsmanship. The event, organized by Coach Gavin Manders and Nspire, fostered personal growth and camaraderie among peers.

Somersfield Denton Hurdle Memorial Awards 2024 Nominees
Somersfield student-athletes have been nominated for the prestigious Denton Hurdle Memorial Awards, presented by the BSSF and the Denton Hurdle Committee. These awards honour top student-athletes in their final year of primary, middle, and high school, recognising sportsmanship, leadership, and talent. The nominees represent Somersfield's commitment to excellence in school sports.

Bermuda Day Mini-Marathon
On Thursday, May 23, Somersfield Academy Children’s House and Lower Primary students enthusiastically participated in a thrilling Bermuda Day Mini-Marathon! Our students had been eagerly practicing and training for this race in their PE classes, and their hard work truly paid off. Despite the scorching morning heat, the students had an absolute blast and, most importantly, demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event.

Somersfield Students Triumph in Bermuda Day Races
On Friday the 24th of May, our students demonstrated remarkable achievements in various races, showcasing the hard work and dedication they've invested throughout the year. A massive thank you to Vivienne Lochhead and Laurie Orchard for volunteering so much of their time to running club this school year. They have instilled a passion for running in many students that will hopefully remain a healthy habit for them throughout their lives. Thank you also to all of the other parents who facilitated their children taking part in the races on Friday.

Somersfield Hosts Middle School Boys BSSF Badminton Tournament
The BSSF middle school boys badminton tournament took place at Somersfield Academy on Tuesday, May 21. Six schools competed in this exciting event: Whitney Institute, Dellwood Middle School, Sandys Secondary, Warwick Academy, Saltus Grammar School, and Somersfield Academy.

Somersfield Academy hosted the middle school girls BSSF badminton tournament, welcoming teams from Saltus Grammar School, Warwick Academy, Sandys Secondary School, and Dellwood Middle School. The event was a remarkable display of talent and sportsmanship, and our Somersfield players performed exceptionally well.

Somersfield's athletes excelled at the 2024 BSSF Primary School Track and Field Championships at Flora Duffy National Stadium. Competing in various events, the team demonstrated impressive skill, sportsmanship, and dedication.

Middle School Track & Field Finals
Somersfield participated with its largest team in the Middle School Inter-school Track & Field competition since before the pandemic. The hard work the students put in during PE lessons, on sports day and at lunchtime practices truly paid off as our students came home with 14 medals and numerous school records were broken!
