Somersfield Student Invited to Southern Honours String Festival
Somersfield Academy student Chrysda Smith, along with other advanced string students, participated in the Southern Honours String Festival, where they had the opportunity to rehearse and perform with students from North Carolina and Virginia. The experience included a masterclass with Violin Professor Marjorie Bagley.
Community Projects that Matter
On Friday last week Somersfield Academy hosted its M3 Class of 2015 Community Project. The M3 Community Project focuses on community and service, encouraging students to explore their rights and responsibility to implement service as action in the community.
Somersfield Girls Give Back To Community
Somersfield Academy M3 students Victoria Mello, Jaedah Trott & Asia Seymour raised $1,200 for WindReach’s Life Skills Programme through events like movie screenings & a spring fair raffle. Their efforts not only supported WindReach’s mission but also inspired the trio to continue giving back.
Somersfield Wins Overseas Robotics Event
The Somersfield Academy Lego robotics team won first place at the IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition with a 97/100 score. Their "King of the Hill" robot excelled in challenges, thanks to the team’s expertise and guidance from coach Mark Brown and mentors. Somersfield’s robotics programme continues to thrive.

Somersfield Academy's Children’s House celebrated Bermuda Day with a vibrant parade & mini marathon featuring record attendance, creative floats, Gombeys, & steel pan music.
Alumnus Shamar Morris earns XL Catlin Scholarship
Former Somersfield Academy high honours student Shamar Morris has been awarded the prestigious 2015 XL Catlin Scholarship. Excelling in academics, music & leadership, Shamar's achievements include Youth Parliament Speaker, IB success & community service. He'll study Actuarial Science at UofT.
Somersfield Students Shine in Life Skills Programme Celebration
Somersfield Academy students proudly earned certificates for completing the Life Skills Programme, celebrated alongside CADA, the Department for National Drug Control & Pride Bermuda. The programme equips youth with confidence & skills to navigate challenges & prevent substance abuse.
Student Newspapers Initiative
Hamilton’s street poles are adorned with ribbons in school colours to celebrate the National School Salute, a new initiative by The Royal Gazette. The campaign highlights the achievements of Bermuda’s senior schools, with each school contributing a student newspaper and hosting unique events. Somersfield Academy will showcase their student contributions in tomorrow’s edition.
Somersfield Students Recognised for Environmental Filmmaking Excellence on Earth Day
Somersfield Academy students Miles and Macen Outerbridge won the Lower Primary prize for their environmental film Brothers Doing Their Part, while Hailey Hayward earned Best Use of Emotion for Ocean and Sunset at the fourth annual Earth Day Video Competition. Ten films addressed key environmental issues.
Somersfield Scholar Shines as Young Scientist, Poet & Wildlife Advocate
Gabrielle Reid, a Somersfield Academy MYP student, excels in science, poetry & wildlife advocacy. At 13, she published Whispers of the Sea, met Philippe Cousteau & won the Bermuda Blue Halo contest. A BAMZ volunteer, she shares her passion for nature while balancing academics & creative pursuits.
