Student makes maiden sea crossing in Spirit’s race debut
15-year-old Hannah Horsfield of Somersfield Academy is sailing in the Newport Bermuda Race aboard the Spirit of Bermuda. One of the youngest participants, she’s excited about the experience. Her sailing journey started with Optimist dinghies, and her father, Kevin, is also onboard for the race.
Somersfield Academy Alumnus Ryan Whiting Awarded 2012 XL Scholarship
Ryan Whiting, a High Honours graduate of Somersfield Academy's International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, has been awarded the prestigious 2012 XL Scholarship. He will attend NYU Stern School of Business, pursuing finance and economics, with a focus on property casualty actuarial work.
BSSF Honours Bermuda's Top Student-Athletes at Denton Hurdle Awards
The Bermuda School Sports Federation honoured 54 student-athletes at the 27th Denton Hurdle Memorial Awards. Named after the late Denton Hurdle, the awards recognise leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication. Tyler Smith of Somersfield Academy earned an honourable mention in the middle school boys' division.
Rylee Gardener Captivates as Sarah Catherine at Annual Tea Celebration
At the third annual Sarah Catherine Tea, Somersfield Academy’s Rylee Gardener took on the role of Sarah Catherine. The event, held at the St. George’s Historical Society Museum, included a tour, tea party, and activities, where Rylee’s portrayal captivated attendees and added to the celebration’s success.

They visited local communities and a Haitian refugee camp, reflecting on the joy and resilience of those living in poverty, and how the experience changed their perspectives on happiness.
