Application Process
Parents interested in enrolling their children at Somersfield should attend one of our Open Houses, Info Sessions or Tours (every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30am) to see our interactive classrooms in action and learn about the importance of our key materials and teaching approach.
Once you are familiar with our school, and its programmes, you are warmly invited to submit an Application Form. Children are eligible to start Somersfield in September of the year they turn three.
-
Our assessment and the teacher’s interactions provide some insight as to a child’s interests, overall development and readiness for our programme. We make every effort to determine whether we can support children with specific needs responsibly and effectively.
Parents of 4-year-old and above applicants will be requested to provide:
Copies of their child’s school reports, achievement test results,
Most recent educational and learning needs reports / Psycho-ed (if applicable)
A portfolio of their work, which should include samples from each core subject, a creative writing piece and a completed project.
-
We offer rolling admissions for all age groups, and applications are welcome at any point during the school year. Placement is considered based on availability within each age group.
Our primary intake is at the 3-year-old age (Children’s House). If you would like your child to be considered for entry after this age, please complete an application. We are only able to make an offer in our Primary Departments if spaces become available.
Our admission timelines vary per level. Generally, open houses, school visits, interviews and testing take place for in the Fall of the upcoming academic year; however, if you are unable to meet these timelines, please contact our Admissions Office to discuss an application off-schedule.
Journey of Discovery Open House: each September, for our Children’s House and Lower Primary programmes.
IB Info Session and Group Tours House: for Secondary Middle Years and DP International Baccalaureate programmes in November.
Parent Connect: all interested 3 year old applicant families will be invited to attend our Parent Connect the year before their child’s entry year. Information will be shared by the Director of Admissions.

It is important to note that we often interview potential students in anticipation of spaces becoming available in the future. We may not be able to offer a space immediately but by completing this process, and if a place becomes available, your child would be accommodated promptly.
Preference is given to alumni, sibling and staff children for our 3-year-old programme. We then try to ensure a diverse community in each classroom.
If your child is not offered admission to Somersfield Academy, their application will be placed in our waitpool rather than on a ranked waitlist. As spaces become available, we will review the waitpool and contact families whose children are best suited for the available openings.
-
Once parents have accepted space for their child, the Enrolment Agreement and Schedule of Fees (Payment Plan) must be completed, signed and returned together with a non-refundable $1000.00 enrolment fee by the date noted on the letter of offer. Our Schedule of Fees is issued annually advising of any change in tuition. If you require financial assistance during the first three years of enrolment, kindly advise during your initial application. Please refer to our Bursary Application for details.
