BSSF Secondary Football Matches
BSSF All-Star Football continued with thrilling middle and senior school matches. Mia Daponte scored for the East in a 4-1 Middle School Girls loss. Jack Bull, Austin Murphy, Cairo Burgess, and Jared Jones supported the East Boys in a 2-0 loss. Matthew Troake and Grant Reese helped the Senior Boys win 2-0.

The BSSF All-Star Football matches brought East vs. West excitement this weekend! Somersfield players Aela Fraser, Eva Desjardins, Austen Fagundo, Jeremy Ngaruiya & Samuel Bernardino gave it their all. Special congrats to Jeremy for earning East Boys MVP!
Somersfield Presents Matilda The Musical JR
Somersfield Academy presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. on Friday, January 31 at 5:00pm and Saturday, February 1 at 2:00pm and 6:30pm in the Somersfield hall. Somersfield To Hold Personal Project Exhibition
Somersfield Academy’s M5 students will showcase their creativity at the Personal Project Exhibition on February 19 in the school gymnasium. The event will highlight diverse projects, from Bermuda’s flora and jewellery making to scuba diving and environmental conservation. Open to the community, it celebrates innovation, inquiry-based learning, and student achievement.
Celebrating 20 Years of IB Excellence
Somersfield Academy celebrates 20 years of offering the IB programme, shaping globally minded learners as Bermuda’s only school with the MYP. Events include an alumni panel, Matilda The Musical JR., and an MYP Open House on February 19. This milestone reflects a legacy of inspiring confident, compassionate thinkers.
Somersfield’s April Cherry Inspired After Art Award Win
April Cherry, an M4 student at Somersfield Academy, recently won two prizes at the Fifth Annual Harvey Cooper Award for her acrylic painting Rays of Paradise, earning $2,000. Inspired by Bermuda’s ocean life, April described her art as “freeing” and hopes to pursue a career in illustration or animation.
Somersfield’s Nico Bean Wins $25K to Grow His Business
Somersfield student, Nico Bean ‘27, won $25,000 in the BEDC's Wave of Opportunity Pitch Competition for his business, Flow by Nico. Nico plans to use the funds to set up a Shopify site to streamline payments. His products are already sold at four local stores, and he’s eager to expand further.
