This Week on the Court: Somersfield Basketball Recap
This week, Somersfield basketball saw thrilling games across all levels. Middle School Boys edged MSA 18–17, JV Boys battled back but fell 36–38, Middle School Girls faced a tough 12–6 loss, and Senior Girls improved to 3–0 with a 15–5 win. Strong teamwork, resilience, and Somersfield sportsmanship shone through.
Somersfield Reid Kempe Memorial Race Marks 10 Years
Somersfield marked 10 years of the Reid Kempe Memorial Race, celebrating the life of teacher, sailor, and environmental advocate Reid Kempe. Students of all ages took part in a memorial walk and race, 106 earned a grub day, and a bench was dedicated in Reid’s honour, located at the race starting line.

The Extended Essay is a defining part of the IB Diploma at Somersfield. Through a 4,000-word independent research project, students pursue a personal interest, refine a focused question, and engage in sustained analysis, building the confidence and skills needed for university-level study.
Somersfield Academy Equity & Merit High School Scholarships
Somersfield Academy is accepting applications for the 2026–27 Equity & Merit Scholarships. 10 places available for Bermudian students entering M4 (S1)–DP1 (S3). These scholarships recognise academic excellence, leadership & community impact, with full or partial tuition support. Apply by March 9, 2026.

Governor Andrew Murdoch and Education Minister Crystal Caesar attended Somersfield Academy’s M5 Personal Project Exhibition, celebrating students’ year-long independent inquiry. Despite a brief power outage, students presented with confidence, resilience, and impressive depth of learning.
Somersfield Robotics Returns to International Competition
Somersfield Academy’s Robotics team returned to international competition for the first time since 2019, taking on top teams in Boston after just three months of preparation. Battling tough conditions and fierce competition, the team achieved an impressive 8th-place finish.

Their presence and thoughtful feedback offered students valuable real-world perspectives and professional insight.

Primary Cross Country Success at the National Stadium
Somersfield’s Primary Cross Country team had a standout day at the BSSF Championships, with runners showing determination and pride across four races. Highlights included first-time competitors, strong teamwork, and a 3rd place finish for the Over 9 boys.
