Boys’ Football: U16 and U13 Match Reports
U16 Boys Football vs Saltus
On Monday the U16 boys football team took on Saltus away. Saltus had a strong and experienced team and despite the sharks' best efforts the game finished 5-1 to Saltus.
MVT was Gio Araujo who made a lot of excellent saves. MIP was Kaiden Musson who made a lot of good tackles at centre back. Charlie Kilborn scored a beautiful goal, banging it into the top corner with his left foot. Charlie also had some excellent deliveries into the box from free kicks which we failed to convert into goals.
U13 Boys Football vs Whitney Institute
On Tuesday the U13 boys football team began their season against Whitney Institute at home. Jeremy Ngaruiya opened the scoring in the first half, pouncing on a mistake from Whitney and calmly slotting the ball into the net.
Whitney had a strong performance before and after half time, scoring one goal before and one after the break. Somersfield had chances to score towards the end of the game, including a couple of free kicks and breakaways, however Whitney held on to win 2-1.
MVT for the day was Aiden Livingston who defended tenaciously playing right back. MIP was Ethan Weaver who adapted to playing multiple positions in his first game as an U13 player.
Thank you to Coach Shon for coaching the team as well as students Mathis Stevens, Matteo Aleong, Sethika Fernando and Jason Ngaruiya for officiating.
