Somersfield Students Shine at Primary Pickleball Tournament
Somersfield Academy’s pickleball team competed at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium Primary School Tournament after dedicated training. Somersfield achieved outstanding results, winning both girls’ and boys’ divisions, showing strong teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.
Second Annual Secondary Sports Awards Celebrates Student Athletic Excellence
Somersfield Academy’s Second Annual Secondary Sports Awards celebrated an outstanding year of athletics, recognising student-athletes and coaches for their dedication, teamwork, and success. Highlights included 11 championship titles, 47 teams, and an inspiring keynote from alumnus Miles Outerbridge.
Bermuda Day Mini Marathon Brings Energy and School Spirit
Somersfield runners took part in the Bermuda Day Mini Marathon on a bright and sunny morning, racing from Somerset to Hamilton. Students and teachers lined the route to cheer them on, creating a fantastic atmosphere filled with school spirit, determination, and celebration.
Strong performances at BSSF Middle School Track & Field Championships
Somersfield entered 59 students across two days of BSSF middle school track & field at the National Sports Centre, earning 12 medals and 40 top 8 finishes. Shiloh Stevens was named U13 Champion Boy, and the Sharks placed 4th in multiple team categories. Strong performances throughout.

Somersfield Academy’s Primary Track and Field Team delivered outstanding performances over three days of competition at the National Sports Centre, with strong results, record-breaking achievements, and impressive team spirit throughout. From qualifying rounds to finals day, our athletes demonstrated determination and sportsmanship at every stage.
M5 Students Take to the Water
M5 students took to the water for their first pilot gig row, continuing a Bermudian tradition dating back to the 1600s. The experience builds teamwork and confidence while connecting students to the island’s maritime heritage, reflecting Somersfield’s mission and values.
Tigers Triumph At Secondary Sports Day
On Monday March 16, all secondary students took part in our annual Sports Day at the Bermuda National Sports Centre, competing for their houses—Tigers or Makos. Students showcased their skills in track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance races, jumps, and throws. Special mention to the Eoghan Homan Mile, held in memory of former student Eoghan Homan, with winners Jarred Jones and Evelyn Fahy. Congratulations to the Tigers, who claimed overall victory with 1408 points, while the Makos scored 1130 points.
Primary Students Show Growth and Team Spirit at Rugby Festival
Somersfield P6 students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Primary Rugby Festival at NSC North Field. The morning featured skill-building drills, followed by friendly matches in the afternoon. Students showed great teamwork, determination, and improvement throughout the day under sunny skies.
This Week on the Court: Somersfield Basketball Recap
This week, Somersfield basketball saw thrilling games across all levels. Middle School Boys edged MSA 18–17, JV Boys battled back but fell 36–38, Middle School Girls faced a tough 12–6 loss, and Senior Girls improved to 3–0 with a 15–5 win. Strong teamwork, resilience, and Somersfield sportsmanship shone through.
Somersfield Reid Kempe Memorial Race Marks 10 Years
Somersfield marked 10 years of the Reid Kempe Memorial Race, celebrating the life of teacher, sailor, and environmental advocate Reid Kempe. Students of all ages took part in a memorial walk and race, 106 earned a grub day, and a bench was dedicated in Reid’s honour, located at the race starting line.
