Primary Interschool Track and Field Highlights

On Tuesday, May 6th, and Thursday, May 8th, a number of our primary students proudly represented Somersfield Academy at the Flora Duffy National Stadium, competing against peers from primary schools across the island in the annual Interschool Track and Field Championships. Ms. Winstanley and Mrs. Troake selected our team based on performances from Sports Day and school trial events.

We had 33 students competing on the first day and 28 on the second, giving their best efforts in a range of races, jumps, and throws. The top 8 athletes in each event advanced to the finals, which took place on Wednesday, May 14th.

Finals Day Highlights:

  • Gabrielle Saunders: 2nd – 100m, 2nd – 200m, 3rd – Overall Female (Under-10)

  • Brooklyn Minors: 2nd – 800m, 5th – Overall Female (Under-9)

  • Taya Eromin: 2nd – Cricket Ball Throw

  • Aela Fraser: 3rd – High Jump

We are extremely proud of all our athletes for their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Participating in such a large-scale event takes courage and focus, and our students represented Somersfield with pride.

A huge thank you to all the parents who supported their children by helping with transportation, cheering from the stands, and encouraging them every step of the way. Your involvement plays an essential role in your child’s success and enjoyment of these experiences.

Congratulations again to our entire primary track and field team — we are proud of every one of you!
