Somersfield Middle School Basketball Teams Finish Strong in BSSF Finals
Our Middle School basketball teams wrapped up their seasons with heart, hustle, and pride in the Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) finals held at Mount Saint Agnes Academy. While both teams narrowly missed out on championship titles, their performances were nothing short of inspiring.
Boys’ Final: Somersfield 23 – Saltus 29
Our boys showed tremendous determination in their championship match against a strong Saltus side. After jumping out to an early lead, Somersfield found themselves trailing by eight points. Refusing to give in, the team fought back to close the gap to just two with six minutes remaining. Their defensive effort was exceptional, but despite a determined push, they fell short with a final score of 29–23.
This final marks the close of a memorable season—and the end of an era for our departing M3 players: Maikel, Jase, Jack, John, Christopher, and Austin. They leave a legacy of leadership, effort, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Jase Davis, named game MVP, who led all scorers with 16 points.
Thank you to our coaches, families, teachers, and fans whose support carried the team throughout the season. You helped build a team defined by growth, resilience, and unity.
Girls’ Final: Somersfield 8 – MSA 9
In a dramatic defensive showdown, our girls’ team showed incredible grit in a one-point loss to MSA. Freida Vali, named team MVP, led with four points, while Kate Pursell added three. The full squad—including Anya-Aleisha, Zarah Fahy, Emily Paulos, Margot Taylor, and Aniah Tucker—fought for every basket in a game that came down to the final seconds.
Coach K shared, “I couldn’t be more proud of these girls. They improved so much, never gave up, and left everything on the court. I’m already excited for next season!”
