Grub Day Spotlight: PALS
For this month’s grub day, we are acknowledging PALS Bermuda, a charity that provides support and assistance to cancer patients and their families.
PALS provides cancer patients with quality care (primarily in their home) to enhance quality of life. They meet the physical, emotional and social needs of their patients. To the best of their abilities, PALS promotes health, dignity and independence- regardless of patients’ ability to pay.
PALS is a great charity for Somersfield students to learn about because it connects to our mission statement. “Inspiring socially conscious independent thinkers.” This relates to the charity because it encourages students to think about how cancer is a real issue that impacts people in our community and what others are doing to make a positive change.
Additionally, PALS connects to the Learner Profile of caring. PALS is a strong example of an organization that cares for people in our community. Discussions about the charity can encourage students to reflect and begin to care about the wellbeing of people around them.
Students are invited to consider a critical question: How can you make a difference towards PALS or cancer care?
So, as you go through the day, do not simply think about the clothes you wear. Remember that all proceeds from this Grub Day will be donated to PALS to help them continue to provide care to those who need it in our community.
