Founded in 1991 as Bermuda’s first Montessori school, Somersfield Academy began with a bold vision of inclusive, child-led learning. Now home to nearly 550 students and offering the full IB continuum, it continues to inspire independent thinkers with a global outlook and a strong Bermudian foundation.

Honouring Our Roots: Bermuda Heritage Month Activity Day
This month, we are celebrating Bermuda Heritage Month! We’re excited to welcome several local legends to our Bermuda Heritage Month Activity Day on May 22. Primary students will rotate through cultural stations and enjoy traditional Bermuda games, while Children’s House students will join in the fun with classic island favourites of their own.

Help Us Grow: Regenerative Gardening Club Needs Compost Materials!
The Regenerative Gardening Club is building its next compost pile—and we need your help to make it happen! We’re looking for 11 families to each take one 5-gallon bucket and fill it to the rim with either green materials (fresh grass clippings, tree trimmings, weeds) or brown materials (dead/dried leaves, untreated wood chips—no cedar, hay, or straw).

DP1 Students Explore Holocaust Survivors' Stories
In recognition of Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January, Somersfield's DP1 English A: Language and Literature HL class studied the Holocaust through Art Spiegelman’s MAUS. They created projects portraying survivors’ stories, using creative mediums like newspapers, diaries, and maps, to explore the emotional impact of these experiences.

International Day: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Global Citizenship
International Day at Somersfield Academy is a cherished tradition celebrating our diverse community. With over 40 nationalities represented, it marks the culmination of weeks of cultural exploration. Students dive into the food, customs, and traditions of chosen countries, uniting us in a vibrant celebration of global citizenship.
