We recognise their contributions, reflect on historical injustices, and celebrate achievements through stories, music, festivals, and education, uplifting Native voices and traditions.
Somersfield Student Leadership Hosts International Day of Peace Ceremony
Somersfield Academy came together to celebrate its annual International Day of Peace, led by the newly appointed Student Leadership Council. The ceremony featured speeches by SLC President Dezirae Darrell, a moving performance of Songs of Freedom by Ameina Soares, and remarks from SLC Chair Yemaya Iris, highlighting peace, empathy, and inclusion.
Grub Day: Students Raise $700 for Big Brothers Big Sisters
On Wednesday, September 17, Somersfield Academy hosted a Grub Day, inviting students to exchange their uniforms for casual attire with a $2 donation. This simple gesture carried a significant purpose: together, our community raised nearly $700 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda.

In the spirit of this year’s Heritage Month theme, “The Future is Now,” students engaged with hands-on stations exploring Bermuda’s evolving identity. From sustainable agriculture and clean energy to cultural cornerstones like the Gombey and island architecture, the afternoon sessions sparked curiosity about how heritage and innovation can shape a thriving future for Bermuda.

These playful stations not only sparked laughter and collaboration but offered a window into the creative, outdoor play of the past—reminding us that meaningful fun doesn’t require a screen.
Bermuda Heritage Month: Mini-Marathon
Our CH and LP students raced from “St. George’s” to “Hamilton” in the Somersfield Bermuda Day Mini Marathon! With big smiles, fast feet & roaring support, they brought the island spirit to our field. Congrats to all our runners—you made it a day to remember!
