Junior JEDI—Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion—is a student leadership group committed to helping Somersfield Academy be a place where everyone feels seen, respected and valued. Junior JEDI members work together to build understanding across our community through peer mentoring, awareness campaigns, and thoughtful problem-solving and advocacy. Their work centres student voice and encourages meaningful conversations about fairness, identity, and belonging.
This initiative is important because it empowers students to take an active role in shaping the culture of their school. By learning to listen, ask questions, and stand up for others, Junior JEDI members develop empathy, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility. Their efforts help translate our shared values into everyday actions—whether that is acknowledging important histories, addressing bias, or creating more inclusive spaces on campus.
We are pleased to introduce our Junior JEDI for the 2025–26 school year and look forward to the positive impact they will have across Somersfield. Their work builds on the thoughtful reflections already shared by JEDI members, including student-written pieces that encourage learning, reflection, and respect for diverse experiences and histories.
