Students Address Real-World Issues at Personal Project Exhibition 2026
Somersfield Academy’s M5 students will present the culmination of their International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) learning at the annual Personal Project Exhibition, held in the Somersfield Academy Gymnasium. The exhibition celebrates independent inquiry, creativity, and sustained commitment and forms a key component of Bermuda’s only IB MYP programme. Somersfield welcomes students from other schools to attend and experience the exhibition.
Junior JEDI: What It Is and Why It Matters
Junior JEDI is a student leadership group promoting justice, equity, diversity and inclusion at Somersfield. Through peer mentoring, awareness campaigns, and advocacy, members help build a respectful, inclusive campus where student voice and belonging matter.
Senior School Netball Team Makes Somersfield History
Somersfield’s senior school netball team made history as runners up in the BSSF Tournament — the school’s first ever medal in this event. With a young squad, they won four of five games and showed real determination against older, more experienced teams.

Somersfield Student Leadership Hosts International Day of Peace Ceremony
Somersfield Academy came together to celebrate its annual International Day of Peace, led by the newly appointed Student Leadership Council. The ceremony featured speeches by SLC President Dezirae Darrell, a moving performance of Songs of Freedom by Ameina Soares, and remarks from SLC Chair Yemaya Iris, highlighting peace, empathy, and inclusion.

Somersfield’s April Cherry Inspired After Art Award Win
April Cherry, an M4 student at Somersfield Academy, recently won two prizes at the Fifth Annual Harvey Cooper Award for her acrylic painting Rays of Paradise, earning $2,000. Inspired by Bermuda’s ocean life, April described her art as “freeing” and hopes to pursue a career in illustration or animation.
Minister Tinée Furbert Visits Somersfield
The Hon. Tinee Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development, & Seniors, visited Somersfield Academy for the TOYA ZONE event, engaging with students on challenges they face. She also toured the Design Lab, where M4 students presented innovative shelter designs addressing homelessness with sustainable solutions.
Victorious Finals: U16 & O16 Netball Teams Shine in League Showdown
The U16 & O16 Netball Teams triumphed in their final league games against Saltus. The U16s dominated, winning 19-7, with MVPs Ailey H (GK) & Naomi C (GA). The O16s staged a comeback to win 13-11, led by MVPs Kennedy K (GA) & Nishika B (C). A proud moment for all, marking an emotional farewell for our DP2 players!
