Somersfield Hosts Middle School Girls BSSF Badminton Tournament

On Monday, May 20, Somersfield Academy hosted the middle school girls BSSF badminton tournament, welcoming teams from Saltus Grammar School, Warwick Academy, Sandys Secondary School, and Dellwood Middle School. The event was a remarkable display of talent and sportsmanship, and our Somersfield players performed exceptionally well.

In the Under 13 singles, Leilani Carpol emerged as the champion, with Sienna Harper finishing as the runner-up. A special mention goes to Aniah Tucker, who competed against older girls and impressively reached the semi-finals, securing 4th place overall.

In the Under 13 doubles, Leilani Carpol and Sienna Harper triumphed as champions. Kate Pursell and Aniah, both M1 students, exceeded all expectations by winning their pool and quarter-final match. Unfortunately, they faced a tough draw and were knocked out by Leilani and Sienna in the semi-finals.

The Over 13 singles saw Cora DeSilva take the championship title, while Sydney Troake secured 3rd place. Hayleigh Cherry showcased significant progress, making it to the semi-finals.

In the Over 13 doubles, Cora and Sydney claimed the championship, while Hayleigh and Annabel demonstrated a strong partnership, improving with every game and never giving up.

A heartfelt thank you to the scorers who ensured the tournament ran smoothly: Satya Darrell, JitShuen Liew, JitHom Liew, James Bigley, Colton Kearns, and Riley Maybury. Your assistance was invaluable.

Overall, it was a fantastic day of competition, camaraderie, and achievement. Congratulations to all the participants and winners!
