Somersfield Students and Staff Join Bermuda Sloop Pirates Fundraiser
Somersfield students and staff are joining the Bermuda Sloop Pirates Fundraiser to raise $60,000 for two M3 voyages aboard Spirit of Bermuda. Since 2006, over 8,500 students have gained teamwork, resilience, and hands-on sailing experience. This supports Somersfield’s mission to inspire independent, socially conscious learners.
Tigers Triumph At Secondary Sports Day
On Monday March 16, all secondary students took part in our annual Sports Day at the Bermuda National Sports Centre, competing for their houses—Tigers or Makos. Students showcased their skills in track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance races, jumps, and throws. Special mention to the Eoghan Homan Mile, held in memory of former student Eoghan Homan, with winners Jarred Jones and Evelyn Fahy. Congratulations to the Tigers, who claimed overall victory with 1408 points, while the Makos scored 1130 points.
Students Address Real-World Issues at Personal Project Exhibition 2026
Somersfield Academy’s M5 students will present the culmination of their International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) learning at the annual Personal Project Exhibition, held in the Somersfield Academy Gymnasium. The exhibition celebrates independent inquiry, creativity, and sustained commitment and forms a key component of Bermuda’s only IB MYP programme. Somersfield welcomes students from other schools to attend and experience the exhibition.
Somersfield 1st and 2nd Teams Score Big in Badminton League
Somersfield Academy hosted Round 2 of the senior school badminton league, with both the 1st and 2nd teams winning all matches. Standout performances, close contests, and league-climbing results made it a strong afternoon on court.
Senior School Netball Team Makes Somersfield History
Somersfield’s senior school netball team made history as runners up in the BSSF Tournament — the school’s first ever medal in this event. With a young squad, they won four of five games and showed real determination against older, more experienced teams.

Under 16s Triumph, Over 16s Rally in Hard-Fought Clash with Warwick
Somersfield’s Under 16s dominated Warwick with a 30–4 win, led by MVP Sydney Troake and MIP Emily Paulos. The Over 16s battled hard, delivering a strong second half despite a 13–21 loss, with standout performances from Paige and the defensive trio Riley, Dezirae and Heidi.
Back-to-Back Wins for Somersfield in League Matches Against CedarBridge
Somersfield played against CedarBridge and won both league matches. The U16s secured a 24–7 victory with standout performances from Sydney, Milena, Margot, and Annabel. The O16s won 23–5, with Riley earning MVP and strong contributions from Paige, Naomi, and Sydney.
U16 Netball Shines in Double-Header at BHS
Our U16 netballers faced BHS in a double-header yesterday! After a 20-11 loss to their first team, they bounced back to a 24-12 win over the second team. MVP Sydney Troake and MIP Riley Jones led the way. Next up: Berkeley after the October break. Thanks to alumna Shi-Vaughn Lee for umpiring!
Strong Somersfield Showing at National Junior Badminton Tournament
Somersfield Academy hosted the National Junior Badminton Tournament on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12. The event brought together more than 70 players who competed in over 250 matches across two days. Many Somersfield students participated and earned podium finishes.
