MYP Students participate in BUEI Youth Climate Summit
The BUEI Bermuda Youth Climate Summit took place this week with over 150 students aged 13-22 from schools across the island, including ten participants from Somersfield Academy. Guided by Hannah Horsfield, Education Programmes Coordinator at BUEI and a Somersfield alumna, students collaborated to foster engagement on global climate issues, inspiring them to be active contributors to positive change in their communities. Together, they laid the foundation for a year of youth-led activities centered around local climate concerns in conservation, sustainability, and climate justice.

Taking a Stand Against Bullying: SA's Anti-Bullying Week
This week at Somersfield Academy, we took a collective stand against bullying by actively participating in the annual Anti-Bullying Week. In the spirit of embracing individuality and fostering unity, our students donned odd socks as a symbol of celebrating uniqueness. The quirky initiative aimed not only to celebrate diversity but also to send a clear message to bullies that we stand united against their actions. Our vibrant, mismatched socks became a visual representation of our commitment to 'sock it' to bullying.
Somersfield Student attend Inaugural CURB Student Leadership Conference
Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda (CURB) hosted its inaugural Student Leadership Conference on October 24th and 25th, 2023. Under the theme "Building Bridges, Empowering Change," with students gathering from across the island — seven Somersfield Academy students, Emma Allington ‘26, Naomi Crofton ‘27, Dez Darrell ‘27, Aalihay Haffar ‘26, Taylor Herzog ‘26, JitShuen Liew ‘27, and Zarah Siddiqi ‘26, joined the conversation to foster profound discussions on racial equity and community evolution among students.

Annual Book Buddies Inspire Younger Readers During Readathon
We embarked on a literary adventure during our "Fortnight of Mystery Readathon," where the magic of reading came to life through the enchanting Book Buddies activity! This unique event brought together slightly older children in primary school with their younger counterparts, fostering a sense of camaraderie and a shared love for stories.
Somersfield’s Interact Club Receives Accolades for World Interact Week
The Rotary partnered with the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, the Media Lounge and the Grotto Bay Beach Resort and Spa to provide film passes, pizzas and gift certificates to more than 130 members of Interact Clubs and their advisers to celebrate World Interact Week. Somersfield was one of them!
From Campus to Community: Somersfield Alumni Are Transforming Bermuda's Educational Landscape
Somersfield Academy is producing alumni who make meaningful contributions to our community. One shining example of this is Morgan Kempe, an alumna who has been actively involved in the Bermuda Education Network's (BEN) summer learning programme. This programme focuses on improving the literacy and reading skills of Bermuda’s public school students, providing essential support during summer learning regression.
