SPTA Sponsors Diwali Celebration

Diwali is celebrated in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism, and is also known as the festival of lights. It is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year.

On Tuesday, November 14, each class will learn a little about this celebration.

Children's House & Lower Primary:

  • Arts and Crafts lessons

  • Each child will be given Gulab Jamun (Indian Milk Doughnut)

  • The class will hear a simple description of the origin of the festival and how it’s celebrated

  • One of the moms dressed in ethnic attire will deliver desserts to the class so that students are able to see traditional attire.

  • (Children bring in a small bowl and a spoon)

Upper Primary:

  • Each child will be given 1 Gulab Jamun (Indian Milk Doughnut)

  • One of the moms dressed in ethnic attire will deliver desserts to the class so that students are able to see traditional attire.

  • The class will hear a simple description of the origin of the festival and how it’s celebrated

  • (Children bring in a small bowl and a spoon)

MYP and beyond:

An area will be set up at lunchtime for those who would like to try the food
