Somersfield M5 Students Showcase Personal Projects
Somersfield Academy will host its M5 Personal Projects Showcase in the school gymnasium. The projects, linked to the 2022 Sustainable Development Goals, reflect the students' inquiry, action, and reflection. As part of the IB Middle Years Programme, M5 students must develop a project based on personal interest, write a 15-page report, and present their findings. The event celebrates student engagement and promotes project-based, student-centred learning.
Addressing Grief: Resources for Teachers and Parents
School-based support and increased understanding are essential when a student experiences the death of a friend or loved one. While each student will be affected differently depending on his or her developmental level, cultural beliefs, personal characteristics, family situation, and previous experiences. There are some strategies that can be helpful in supporting bereaved students.

Somersfield Academy held a school wide grub day on January 17th in recognition of the National Day of Racial Healing to help raise funds for CURB.

The goal of interdisciplinary learning for Language and Literature and Individuals and Societies is to provide students with opportunities to synthesize concepts, knowledge, and skills on the complex issues of colonization. M5 teachers were excited to share the results.
Get to know Riki Teteina, our new Head of School
Riki Teteina, The Somersfield Academy new Head of School, has arrived in Bermuda. After a busy day of touring the school our Communications Team sat down with him to get to know him a little better. Here are 27 questions we asked to figure out more about Riki.
DP2 Student, Sam Lindo, Accepted to First-choice University
Congratulations to Sam Lindo, who has been unconditionally accepted into his first choice university, Elon University. He will study physics, which is his absolute dream! A very special thanks to Dr. John, who has so inspired Sam and to all those involved in the early Robotics club at Somersfield. He was a part of a group that went to the VEX Robotics World Championship 2019!
DP2 Student, Maya Rajeh, Accepted to First-choice College
Congratulations to Maya Rajeh, who has been unconditionally accepted into her first choice college, Davidson College. She will study psychology, what an amazing psychologist she will be! A very special thanks to Mrs. Young and Mme. Bazin, who wrote amazing references. Maya’s reference reflected all the wonderful leadership roles which she has shown such a strength!
