Somersfield Donates Funds to Citizens Uprooting Racism Bermuda

Somersfield Academy are pleased to have been able to donate $1,000 to Citizens Uprooting Racism Bermuda (CURB) this week after a successful student grub day recognizing the Day of Racial Healing on January 17, 2023.

The Somersfield Academy JEDI team and student attendees of the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) were happy to present the donation to CURB Executive Director, Stacey Williams in front of the school.

This comes just before the start of Black History Month and after a full-day workshop in January that had the teachers and staff exploring diversity and privilege in the classroom. The workshop was led by Ms Williams under her consultancy, EquiLens.

CURB is a non-governmental organisation of volunteers working to identify and dismantle racism in all its forms and to address its effects on the Bermudian community.

At Somersfield, we are building individuals that are well rounded and culturally aware. We offer this through an internationally oriented education that takes the students beyond the confines of the classroom. With diversity built right into our mission, we were happy to serve our wider community with this donation.
