Secondary Summer Reading
The school year may be drawing to a close, but the learning journey doesn't have to stop! This week, students attended an assembly, or were visited in class by Mrs. Rolph, to learn about our Secondary summer reading programme.

From the Head: Improving Recruitment Processes at Somersfield
As the year rapidly passes by, I thought it would be useful to provide some progress reports from our strategic plan. I’d like to begin by giving you an update on our recruitment and retention processes over the past year.

Student Laptop Programme - May 2024
As part of our strategic plan, Somersfield Academy has made a commitment to provide our students with a 21st century learning experience and to use technology to enhance student learning, creativity and personal productivity.

Building Futures: Empowering Students through LEGO Design and Technical Skills
Students in M2 have been working to create their own LEGO kits for children ages 9+ in their Design class. They researched the interests of their peers and analysed the work of professions to inspire their own creations. As part of this process, students have been learning to read and create technical drawings, using these to create 3D models in OnShape, a cloud-based professional modelling programme.

Swing into action and tee off for a good cause! Mark your calendars for Friday, April 26, as we hit the green for the Somersfield Golf Tournament, driving towards supporting the Somersfield Academy Bursary Fund. Let's putt our best foot forward and make this event a hole-in-one for education!

International Day 2024
With 38 nationalities represented among our staff and students, the lead-up to the event has been an exciting journey of cultural discovery. We’ve been showcasing the a flag daily on our social media accounts, posting the exciting activities the classes are participating in, and and taste testing recipes for the International Day Taste Room Potluck.

P1 - P4 'Paws to Read' Programme to Pilot in Library
We are pleased to introduce Somersfield Academy’s “Paws to Read” literacy initiative in the Margaret Hallett Library. Molly offers students a safe, gentle, non-judgmental listening audience with unconditional positive regard. Reading to dogs has been proven to reduce childhood anxiety and improve confidence and attitudes towards reading.
