New Somersfield Academy teachers and staff to be trained by Melisa Judd, Head of Student Support and Wellness, to use the platform MyConcern, a trusted safeguarding solution used by over 4000 educational institutions worldwide. At the PTA general meeting on Wednesday, 4 October, a promising initiative was unveiled – the introduction of Secondary Class Parents. The jump from Primary to Secondary education is a significant milestone in a student’s educational journey and we want to ensure there are a group of parent ambassadors to help guide the way for families entering the IB Middle Years Programme or Diploma Programme.

On Friday afternoons, a remarkable group of 22 students at Somersfield Academy gathers with boundless enthusiasm as part of the Interact group. Their motto, "service above self," encapsulates their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on both the local community and the world. Rooted in the values of Rotary International, this group of young leaders aims to promote peace, combat disease, provide clean water and sanitation, save mothers and children, support education, boost local economies, and protect the environment.

We hosted a delightful summer reading dessert party to celebrate young bookworms who devoured four or more titles from our recommended list. The event was a sweet reward for their literary adventures, filled with treats and literary discussions to inspire their love for reading.
Co-Curricular Programme Launched!
This initiative, spearheaded by the Director of Activities, Emma Moran-Lee, is set to provide students with a diverse range of engaging and enriching extracurricular experiences, further enhancing the school’s unique curriculum that combines Montessori beginnings with an International Baccalaureate [IB] finish. The Somersfield Academy CCA programme offers a wide array of activities designed to cater to the interests and passions of students. The range of activities allows students to explore their talents, develop new skills, and foster a love for lifelong learning.
International Peace Day: A Time for Reflection and Action
At Somersfield, celebrating the International Day of Peace is a cherished tradition. This year, it was led by the student council, who addressed critical global issues, including the conflict in Ukraine, the devastating earthquake in Morocco, and the wildfires that raged in Hawaii.
The entire school community gathered to listen to these impassioned speeches, fostering awareness and empathy among students, the ceremony was live-streamed, allowing the message of peace to resonate beyond the school walls.
