Heroic Teacher Saves Student's Life at Thankful Lunch
During Somersfield Academy's Thankful Lunch, a student began choking, but primary teacher Lucrecia Simmons quickly sprang into action. Using abdominal thrusts, she cleared the child’s airway in seconds, saving their life. The grateful parents donated to the school in her honour, highlighting the importance of emergency training for educators.

Grace Lightowler '26, Georgia Harris '11, Chrysda Smith '17, and PE teacher Megan Troake will proudly represent Bermuda in the Women's Pan American Challenge, competing in hopes of securing qualification for the 2027 Pan American Games.

Daughter Zoe, a dedicated participant, cherishes the event as a tribute to her father's legacy and his passion for running. Reflecting Kempe's influence, the run fosters camaraderie and positivity, resonating deeply with participants.

Remembering Reid Kempe: Annual Memorial Race Pays Tribute to a Multifaceted Bermudian Icon
The Reid Kempe Memorial Race stands as an annual tribute to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on the Somersfield community. Edwin James “Reid” Kempe, a poet, musician, teacher, marketer, Olympic sailor, and boat restorer, passed away in August 2015 after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. Remembered not only for his diverse talents but also as a devoted family man survived by his wife Lucia and three children—Justin, Zoe, and Jonathan. Reid Kempe's legacy lives on through this poignant event.
