The Somersfield Academy community gathers annually for the Reid Kempe memorial run, honouring the beloved former teacher. Led by spirited house captains and teachers, students race a challenging 3-mile route, embodying the competitive yet supportive ethos Kempe instilled. Daughter Zoe, a dedicated participant, cherishes the event as a tribute to her father's legacy and his passion for running. Reflecting Kempe's influence, the run fosters camaraderie and positivity, resonating deeply with participants.

At the Primary Interschool Cross Country Meet, our runners battled fiercely against the wind and conquered daunting hills to secure commendable finishes. Champions on the Track: Highlights from the U13 and O13 Cross Country
Somersfield athletes performed tremendously at the U13 and O13 Cross Country. Caelan Cabral led the U13 Boys to a solid 3rd place, while Gabby Cechini dominated the O13 Girls race with an impressive lead. A testament to dedication and skill, this event celebrated the spirit of youth athletics.

Cechini twins shine in Middle School Cross-Country Championships
The Cechini twins, Gabriella and Joseph, excelled at the Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Cross-Country Championships. Representing Somersfield Academy, Gabriella won the over-13 girls title with a time of 12:02, while Joseph secured victory in the over-13 boys race with a time of 11:37. Despite facing tough competition, they persevered through the challenging course.

Remembering Reid Kempe: Annual Memorial Race Pays Tribute to a Multifaceted Bermudian Icon
The Reid Kempe Memorial Race stands as an annual tribute to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on the Somersfield community. Edwin James “Reid” Kempe, a poet, musician, teacher, marketer, Olympic sailor, and boat restorer, passed away in August 2015 after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. Remembered not only for his diverse talents but also as a devoted family man survived by his wife Lucia and three children—Justin, Zoe, and Jonathan. Reid Kempe's legacy lives on through this poignant event.

Somersfield, Vasco Da Gama, and LB Football Academy have once again partnered for the Football Developmental Programme, a high performance program that is specifically designed to help enhance athletic capabilities, build player confidence and mental stability, provide a progressive player development.
The goal is to develop players further whilst also developing a specialized sports program to help players and to reach their fullest potential.
