Secondary Summer Reading 2025
The school year’s almost over, but the adventure continues! This summer, M3+ will dive into Flowers in the Gutter—a gripping true story—before meeting author K.R. Gaddy in September. All M1+ get to pick an additional book Teacher Book Clubs.

Primary Pickleball a Smashing Success for Somersfield!
Somersfield’s Primary Pickleball team served up success at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium! Ten P5 and P6 students showed skill, sportsmanship, and heart, earning top finishes and boosting team spirit. Fresh off CAT tests, they rallied with pride—smashing expectations on and off the court!

Middle School Pickleball Team Shines at Island Tournament
The Somersfield Middle School Pickleball Team shined at Tuesday’s island-wide tournament at W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium! With all players advancing to afternoon rounds, the team showed incredible growth and spirit—capped by two 3rd place finishes in both boys’ and girls’ divisions.

The Montessori Approach to Reading Comprehension
Reading comprehension in Lower Primary is intertwined in many activities throughout our programme and is not exclusively taught in isolation. Our aim is to ensure that the students are exposed during the three years to culturally diverse literature, as well as, to reading interpretively.

Somersfield Students Attend Celebration of Dr Eva Hodgson’s Life
Somersfield students joined Director of Student Life Ms Tanisha Edwards at a CURB-hosted tribute to Dr Eva Hodgson, honouring her legacy of justice, education & truth. The school was recognised for supporting her vision—a powerful moment that reflects our mission in action.

Staffing Updates for 2025–2026: Farewells and New Beginnings
As we close out the year, we thank six departing staff for their invaluable contributions to Somersfield. At the same time, we are excited to welcome new educators from around the globe, each bringing fresh energy and experience as we continue advancing our strategic staffing goals.

The Bermuda Gambit Raises $700 for The Family Centre
M2 students raised $700 for The Family Centre through The Bermuda Gambit, a student-led chess tournament and bake sale. Congrats to winners Alexa Lemay, James Bigley & Daniel Mildenhall, and kudos to organisers Jameson Feldman, JitHom Liew, Emma Osborne & Emma Na.

M1–M5 Job Shadowing Information 2025
Our annual Job Shadowing Day for M1–M5 students is on Monday, June 23, 2025. Students are encouraged to explore career interests by spending the day with a professional. Parents may assist with placements and are invited to host students. Forms are due by Friday, June 6.

Sweet Success at the Spring Fair
The pies flew, the crowd cheered, and $700 was raised! Thank you to everyone who supported our Pie-a-Teacher fundraiser at the Spring Fair. Special thanks to Denise Watkins, the Student Leadership Committee, and our amazing teachers for making it a success.
