Middle School Pickleball Team Shines at Island Tournament

On Tuesday, June 3rd, the Somersfield Middle School Pickleball Team headed to the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium to compete in an exciting tournament alongside other middle schools from around the island.

Our team included:

  • James Bigley

  • Phoebe Britten

  • Tucker Champion

  • James Cook

  • Sophie Farrer

  • Eleanor Fields

  • JitHom Liew

  • Riley Maybury

  • Anya-Aeleishe Pearman

  • Kate Pursell

  • Mathis Stevens

  • Owen Stewart

  • Emmalyn Tothong

The students participated in a morning doubles round-robin, with every pair advancing to the second round of afternoon play. Throughout the day, players demonstrated teamwork, determination, and noticeable improvement in their skills.

We are proud to share that the boys’ team of Owen Stewart and Tucker Champion and the girls’ team of Emmalyn Tothong and Sophie Farrer both earned 3rd place finishes in their divisions—an impressive result for all involved!

A big thank you to Gavin Manders and his team for organising such a fun and well-run day of pickleball for our students.
