Somersfield Students Excel at Spelling Bee!
Congratulations to Somersfield Academy students Conor Lim, Jared Arnante, Sophia Clingerman, and alternate Suzanne Prabis for representing our school at the Bermuda Spelling Bee Eastern Zone Semi-Finals! Jared and Conor secured second and third place, earning spots in the upcoming finals on March 8. A special thank you to their dedicated coach, Ms. Franklin, for her support. Making Headlines: P6 Designs Their Own Magazine Covers
In Innovations class, our P6 students took on the challenge of designing their own magazine covers using Canva! This project, part of their unit on media creation, helped them understand how visuals and text work together to share information in engaging ways. At Somersfield, technology is integrated into learning to spark creativity, enhance understanding, and develop essential 21st-century skills.
Writers Young and Older Join in RG Christmas Tradition
Somersfield Academy students celebrated remarkable success in The Royal Gazette’s Stanley Ratteray Memorial Christmas Short Story Contest. Cait Kirwan ‘34 won 1st in the 13 & Under category as its youngest-ever winner. Zarah Siddiqi ‘26 claimed 1st for 18 & Under, with Sophie Farrer ‘31 as a runner-up.
Primary Football Teams Triumph with Teamwork
The Primary Boys’ and Girls’ football teams competed at Harrington Sound, showcasing skill & teamwork. The girls staged a stunning comeback, winning 4-3 with goals from Eva Desjardins, Molly Morton, and Aela Fraser. The boys followed with a 3-1 win, thanks to Trevor Mills and Samuel Bernardino.
