Somersfield Academy Sharks Compete at BSSF Cross Country in the Arboretum
Senior and middle school BSSF cross country took place this week in the arboretum, and the Somersfield Academy Sharks had strong representation. We are very proud of all our athletes, including those risk-takers who pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone and competed.
On Tuesday it was the senior school student's turn. Our teams included:
U16 Boys: Jarred Jones, Rayyan Haffar, Caelan Cabral, Justin Francis, Owen Stewart, Louis Manning, Axel Wideman and Maikel Dela Cruz.
U16 Girls: Hayleigh Cherry, Zarah Fahy, McKenna Redcliffe, Riley Jones, and Nicole Burrows
O16 Boys: Roman Jones, Fergus O'Connell, and Marc Rajeh.
In the U16 girls Hayleigh Cherry was the top Somersfield runner. M4 Jarred Jones led the charge for the U16 boys with an excellent 5th place finish. Roman Jones led the Somersfield O16 boys.
Our middle school teams included:
U13 Girls: Eva Desjardins, Aela Fraser, Suzanne Prabis, Elle Fontanetta, Annabelle Weaver, Sophia Clingerman and Evelina Ray
U13 Boys: Shiloh Stevens, Leo Heyland, Carter Davis, Jack Fullerton, Rex Henagulph, Sam Bernardino, James Wallace and Preston Stewart
O13 Girls: Kate Pursell, Della Masters, Aniah Tucker, Eleanor Fields, Phoebe Britten, Harlow Pettingill
O13 Boys: Cairo Burgess, Jaylon Glasford, James Cook, Matteo Aleong, Braeden Fraser, Hayes Ingham and Praroop Srivastava
In the U13 girls, Eva Desjardins was Somersfield's top runner. Shiloh Stevens and Leo Heyland both secured top ten finishes in the U13 boys category. Kate Pursell looked like a chip off the old block of Mr. Pursell with a strong run to lead the O13 Somersfield girls. Cairo Burgess led the Somersfield O13 boys, followed closely by Jaylon Glasford.
Thank you very much to Señor Sanchez who has led the cross country extra-curricular club. Also, a huge thank you to Vivienne Lochhead who is leading a co-curricular running club with Mr. Lunn this term and who helped coach and warm up our athletes on both days.
