Somersfield continues strong run in KPMG Investment Challenge
February 3, 2026 — Somersfield Academy students are once again among the top performers in the KPMG Senior School Investment Challenge, building on a strong record in the long-running competition.
In the 21st annual event, one of Somersfield’s two teams, The Liquidators, surged from 15th place to first in the third round after posting an over $46k gain on the virtual stock market. Their portfolio now stands at $145,000, placing them at the top of the leaderboard. Somersfield’s second team, RiskyBusiness SA, is also holding a solid position in sixth place with a value of $104,500.
The latest results continue a pattern of consistent performance by Somersfield students in recent years. In 2025, three Somersfield teams finished in the top ten of the competition, with Money Raiders placing second overall. That team was one of only two to turn a profit in a challenging market environment and secured a $6,000 prize for the school. Cash Flow Cartel and RiskyBusiness SA also placed sixth and seventh respectively.
A year earlier, in 2024, Somersfield’s Profit Pioneers finished third, earning a $4,000 prize after months of research, market analysis, and collaborative decision-making. Several other Somersfield teams also placed strongly that year, underscoring depth across the programme.
Now in its 21st year, the KPMG Senior School Investment Challenge gives students a practical introduction to investing, finance, and accounting. Teams begin with a virtual $100,000 and compete against schools from across the island, with prizes awarded to top performers.
Somersfield’s continued presence near the top of the rankings highlights a sustained commitment to financial literacy, critical thinking, and applying classroom learning to real-world contexts.
