Somersfield Academy presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. on Friday, January 31 at 5:00pm and Saturday, February 1 at 2:00pm and 6:30pm in the Somersfield hall. Somersfield To Hold Personal Project Exhibition
Somersfield Academy’s M5 students will showcase their creativity at the Personal Project Exhibition on February 19 in the school gymnasium. The event will highlight diverse projects, from Bermuda’s flora and jewellery making to scuba diving and environmental conservation. Somersfield’s April Cherry Inspired After Art Award Win
April Cherry, an M4 student at Somersfield Academy, recently won two prizes at the Fifth Annual Harvey Cooper Award for her acrylic painting Rays of Paradise, earning $2,000. Inspired by Bermuda’s ocean life, April described her art as “freeing” and hopes to pursue a career in illustration or animation.
Somersfield’s Nico Bean Wins $25K to Grow His Business
Somersfield student, Nico Bean ‘27, won $25,000 in the BEDC's Wave of Opportunity Pitch Competition for his business, Flow by Nico. Nico plans to use the funds to set up a Shopify site to streamline payments. His products are already sold at four local stores, and he’s eager to expand further.
Project helps students learn about homelessness issues
Somersfield Academy's M4 students designed shelters for the homeless, learning about the systemic causes of homelessness and engaging with experts from Home. The project aimed to challenge stereotypes and create practical, sustainable solutions for housing, while raising awareness of homelessness in Bermuda.
Writers Young and Older Join in RG Christmas Tradition
Somersfield Academy students celebrated remarkable success in The Royal Gazette’s Stanley Ratteray Memorial Christmas Short Story Contest. Cait Kirwan ‘34 won 1st in the 13 & Under category as its youngest-ever winner. Zarah Siddiqi ‘26 claimed 1st for 18 & Under, with Sophie Farrer ‘31 as a runner-up.

Zarah Siddiqi has secured second place in the WeSpeak Teen Video Competition themed “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” alongside Keante Simmons in first and Sophie Kulkarni in third.
