Somersfield Academy Student Wins Top Prize in US Consulate Contest
14-year-old William Broughton won a competition with his slogan "Be cool. Don't be a fool. Follow the rules. Stay off the stop list," promoting legal behaviour among teens. Mica Murray, 16, won the art section with a visual warning against getting "chained to the Rock." Their designs will be featured on posters across Bermuda to deter illegal actions that could affect travel to the US. Both winners will receive trips to Washington D.C. and New York.

Somersfield Academy Takes up Govt. Offer of Dedicated West End Bus
Somersfield Academy is pioneering a scheme to cut traffic from the West End to Hamilton by having its own Government-provided bus for students. The scheme - the brainchild of Somersfield Academy parent Fiona Currie - is already thought to have taken more than 30 cars off the road during morning rush hour and now other private schools are calling for their own dedicated vehicles.
From Ivory Coast's civil war to Bermuda — one boy's perspective
Hamadi Gadio, a 15-year-old student at Somersfield Academy, shared his harrowing experience of the Ivorian civil war through a personal project. Born in New York and moved to Ivory Coast at age 11, Hamadi lived through the conflict's violence and disruption, including his mother’s workplace being destroyed. Now back in Bermuda, he presented his autobiography, receiving emotional acclaim from his peers and teachers.
