Daughter Zoe, a dedicated participant, cherishes the event as a tribute to her father's legacy and his passion for running. The Reid Kempe Memorial Race stands as an annual tribute to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on the Somersfield community. Edwin James “Reid” Kempe, a poet, musician, teacher, marketer, Olympic sailor, and boat restorer, passed away in August 2015 after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. Remembered not only for his diverse talents but also as a devoted family man survived by his wife Lucia and three children—Justin, Zoe, and Jonathan. Reid Kempe's legacy lives on through this poignant event.
