Building Memories and Resilience with Duke of Edinburgh
Over the past weekend, our M4s, M5s, and DP1s completed their qualifying journey to receive their Duke of Edinburgh award. Led by Ms. Simpson, Ms. Owens, and Ms. Garnett, the Duke of Edinburgh Award is offered to our high-schoolers every year.
Jenni Simpson Receives Royal Recognition
Jenni Simpson, a dedicated volunteer at Somersfield Academy's Duke of Edinburgh Award Centre, has been recognised for her outstanding contributions to Bermuda's youth. For over seven years, she has managed the Bronze Award programme at Somersfield, helping students grow through challenging activities and personal development opportunities outside the classroom.
Royal Visit Inspires Somersfield Academy Students
Prince Edward met students from Somersfield Academy, which recently adopted the Duke of Edinburgh programme. Sixteen students completed their Bronze expedition, with Leah Amaral and Savannah Stubbs performing in honour of the royal visit.
Earl of Wessex Visits Somersfield Academy
His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, visited Somersfield Academy on March 17. Greeted by students and staff, he met with school officials and attended a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award meeting.
Somersfield Students serenade Prince Edward
Prince Edward visited Somersfield Academy, where students serenaded him with a Taylor Swift song. He praised the school's new Duke of Edinburgh programme and met with 460 students.
