Montessori Academy Student, Ryan Branco, Wins in Art Competition
This year's Hurricane Art Contest drew 361 student drawings from talented children ages five to ten. The judges enjoyed the vibrant colours and various mediums used by the children. The theme was "Hurricanes and the Sea''.

Montessori Academy students’ clean up helps starving in Somalia, with the help of Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB), the students used National Clean-up Day on June 12 to launch a project called Class Action -- an acronym for Collect Litter Aid Starving Somalia.
Children Recreate Shipwreck
Children from Montessori Academy were given a "hands-on'' history lesson when they pretended to be survivors of the Sea Venture. The youngsters, aged from three to six, dressed in traditional costume from the 1620s and were taken to the Idwal Wyn Hughes Nature Reserve.
Going to School the Montessori Way
Tim Seldon, headmaster of The Barrie School in Maryland, USA visited Bermuda to assist with the development of Montessori Academy, a new non-profit school in Warwick that opened last year and plans to expand to 110 students. He highlighted that Montessori schools, which prioritise student-centred learning and self-paced progress, offer a warm and supportive environment different from traditional schools.
