Somersfield Community Goes The Distance on Bermuda Day
Somersfield students, staff, alumni & leadership proudly took part in this year’s Bermuda Day races—earning top finishes in running & cycling events. From podium placements to volunteer support, the day was a powerful celebration of school spirit & community participation.

Somersfieldians Join National Hockey Teams for CAC Qualifiers
Five members of the Somersfield community are proudly representing Bermuda in the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games hockey qualifiers in Mexico. Grace Lightowler ‘26 and Isaac Davis ‘27 will compete alongside PE teacher Megan Troake, and alumnae Georgia Harris ’11 & Chrysda Smith ’17 as part of the Bermuda national teams. The tournament runs from May 1–12 in Mexico, where Bermuda will vie for a spot in the regional games.

At Somersfield Academy, our M3 Community Projects empower students to tackle real-world challenges. From volunteering with local charities to creating community spaces, students learn leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Meet the Somersfield Staff Team at the 2025 Golf Fundraiser!
Our title sponsor Butterfield Group have donated a Staff Team to allow our avid golfers—David Lunn, Carmen Dill, Zayla Smith, and Randy Joynes—to represent Somersfield at the annual Golf Fundraiser on Friday, April 25.

Celebrating 20 Years of IB Excellence
Somersfield Academy celebrates 20 years of offering the IB programme, shaping globally minded learners as Bermuda’s only school with the MYP. Events include an alumni panel, Matilda The Musical JR., and an MYP Open House on February 19. This milestone reflects a legacy of inspiring confident, compassionate thinkers.

Somersfield Academy Under-16 Netball Team Crowned Bermuda National Champions
Somersfield Academy’s Under-16 netball team are Bermuda National Champions after a strong showing at the round-robin tournament on 15 November. With victories over Saltus, Warwick, and Berkeley, and a draw against BHS, the team’s dedication paid off, marking Somersfield’s first-ever netball trophy.

Under-16 Netball Team Battles to a Thrilling Draw Against BHS
Our Under-16 netball team delivered an electrifying performance against BHS, drawing 14-14 in a suspenseful game. After a 4-4 first quarter, BHS led 5-9 by the second, but our girls stormed back to a 12-10 lead in the third. BHS scored the equaliser on the final buzzer, ending in a tie. MVPs Dezirae Darrell and Heidi Paulos stood out, and special thanks go to alumna Shi-Vaughn Lee for expertly umpiring the match.

Kairo Morton ‘20: From Somersfield Robotics to Silicon Valley
Somersfield alumnus Kairo Morton ‘20 shares his extraordinary journey in artificial intelligence with Kameron’s Lab. From a budding tech enthusiast in Bermuda to a leading innovator in Silicon Valley, Kairo’s passion for AI began at Somersfield. Now a graduate of MIT, he’s pioneering advancements in 3D generative AI. Tune in as he discusses his educational experiences and offers invaluable advice for aspiring STEM students, inspiring future tech trailblazers.

Senior Netball Teams Shine in First League Matches
Somersfield Academy’s senior netball league kicked off with impressive performances from both of our teams. The Under 16s secured a 12-6 win against Warwick Academy, while the Over 16s narrowly lost 5-6. MVPs include Dezirae Darrell, Paige Lindo, and Naomi Crofton. Special thanks to alumna Shi-Vaughn Lee for co-coaching!
