Somersfield Academy Takes up Govt. Offer of Dedicated West End Bus
Somersfield Academy is pioneering a scheme to cut traffic from the West End to Hamilton by having its own Government-provided bus for students. The scheme - the brainchild of Somersfield Academy parent Fiona Currie - is already thought to have taken more than 30 cars off the road during morning rush hour and now other private schools are calling for their own dedicated vehicles.
From Ivory Coast's civil war to Bermuda — one boy's perspective
Hamadi Gadio, a 15-year-old student at Somersfield Academy, shared his harrowing experience of the Ivorian civil war through a personal project. Born in New York and moved to Ivory Coast at age 11, Hamadi lived through the conflict's violence and disruption, including his mother’s workplace being destroyed. Now back in Bermuda, he presented his autobiography, receiving emotional acclaim from his peers and teachers.

Olivia Lunn, a 10-year-old student from Somersfield Academy, won first place in the Primary 6 category of the Belco Student Art Competition. Held at the Bermuda National Gallery, the competition saw a record 774 entries from 19 schools. With a theme of "Self-Portraits," Olivia's work stood out among her peers, earning her top honors in her age group.

Somersfield: First School in Bermuda to Receive CESI Accreditation
Somersfield Academy has become the first outside Canada to receive official accreditation by the Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI). Ten assessors from the institute visited Somersfield Academy in Devonshire in April and unanimously voted to rank the school on a par with the best Canadian schools.
Somersfield Plans New Gym, Two-storey Building
Somersfield Academy has sought final planning approval to build a new gymnasium and classroom building to replace an existing external hard surfaced court area and will serve as a multifunctioning gym, assembly, drama and acting space for the complete actual body of the school.
