M5 Students Show Off Personal Projects
School projects ranging from pop art-inspired recycled sneakers to soul food were showcased at Somersfield Academy yesterday. The projects were among the work displayed by M5 pupils as part of their International Baccalaureate middle-year programme, which covered topics such as social justice, sustainability, and religion.
Somersfield Students Give Back
Somersfield Academy students Gregg Mwangi, Tatum Brewer, and Grayson Toogood have formed community project group Waves of Gratitude. Their goal is to “give back to the people who give in our community”. The students are going to highlight volunteers from various charities and commemorate them for giving back to the community. They are also going to get their hands dirty and volunteer. They hope you enjoy their articles.
Students Encouraging Culture of Volunteering
Somersfield Academy students Gregg Mwangi, Tatum Brewer, and Grayson Toogood have formed Waves of Gratitude, a group celebrating Bermuda’s volunteers. Through their weekly column, they aim to raise awareness of volunteer opportunities, especially for young people. Over the coming weeks, they will highlight nine charities, sharing insights from interviews & their own volunteering experiences.
Somersfield Wins Overseas Robotics Event
The Somersfield Academy Lego robotics team won first place at the IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition with a 97/100 score. Their "King of the Hill" robot excelled in challenges, thanks to the team’s expertise and guidance from coach Mark Brown and mentors. Somersfield’s robotics programme continues to thrive.
