Somersfield Academy Student Sachio Harrison Leads Fundraising Effort for Cancer Charities
Somersfield Academy's Sachio Harrison, 15, inspired his school community to join his walkathon, raising $16,785.66 for LCCA and PALS. The funds will support cancer care and assistance, reflecting Sachio’s gratitude for the help his family received during his father’s brain tumour treatment.

Somersfield Student Bakes for a Cause
Alexandra Gerenda, 15, combined her love of baking with community service as part of Somersfield Academy's personal project. After months of studying and creating cakes, she hosted a fundraiser for the Eliza DoLittle Society, raising funds to support food security efforts in Bermuda.

Sachio Harrison’s Walkathon: A Journey of Gratitude and Giving
15-year-old Somersfield student Sachio Harrison, inspired by his father’s recovery from a brain tumour, is organising a walkathon to raise $15,000 for LCCA & PALS. Part of his M5 personal project, the December 19 event will involve students walking or running to support medical aid and cancer care.

Inspired to Produce Collection of Poems
Somersfield Academy student Fae Sapsford, in her final year, has published a poetry collection titled A Snag in the Mind of an Unimportant Stander. Inspired by a Canadian Festival of Authors, Fae wrote and illustrated the book, available on Amazon. Her work is part of Somersfield's independent projects programme.

Personal projects are a celebration of the individual
Student Ryan Whiting, passionate about design, chose his International Baccalaureate personal project to focus on architectural plans for affordable housing, despite initial concerns about the workload. At Somersfield Academy's fair, his AutoCAD drafts impressed viewers, demonstrating his commitment and impact.

Students Showcase Creative Personal Projects in IB Exhibition
Nine students from Somersfield Academy's International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme will showcase their personal projects on Friday from 10am to 12.45pm. Projects include kite-making, a photo gallery with poems, a music video, a documentary on youth violence, soccer skills videos, original music, a mural, and a personal identity documentary. Each project integrates an 'area of interaction' such as community service or human ingenuity. The public is invited to attend and view these creative endeavours.

From Ivory Coast's civil war to Bermuda — one boy's perspective
Hamadi Gadio, a 15-year-old student at Somersfield Academy, shared his harrowing experience of the Ivorian civil war through a personal project. Born in New York and moved to Ivory Coast at age 11, Hamadi lived through the conflict's violence and disruption, including his mother’s workplace being destroyed. Now back in Bermuda, he presented his autobiography, receiving emotional acclaim from his peers and teachers.

Somersfield pupil's project gives $25,000 windfall to the Sickle Cell Foundation
Shakira Warner used her Personal Project to make a $25,000 donation to a charity helping those with a debilitating disease. She held an Auction of Bermudian Art along with afternoon tea at her family home in Bailey's Bay to raise money for the Bermuda Sickle Cell Foundation.
