5K Run and Walk 2025

We are deeply grateful to our parent community, families, and friends who came together to support this year’s 5K Fun Run. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and volunteer spirit made this event possible, and together we created another memorable day of fitness, community, and giving back.

The 2025 5k Somersfield Fun Run and Walk, held on September 28, was truly a community run event. Our volunteer participation was off the charts!

  • 219 runners joined the event

  • 24 race categories

  • 72 new medals (thank you to our anonymous family sponsor!)

  • 32 volunteers (set up, race marshal, water stop, and breakdown)

  • $5,000 raised for the Athletics Department (donations are still open).

The event brought together students, alumni, families, and the wider community for a day filled with fitness, fun, and school spirit. Participants enjoyed the range of races, from the 400m dash to the the competitive 5k run and non-competitive 5K walk, all held on the Somersfield Academy grounds and surrounding Devonshire area (see route).

This year’s 5K Fun Run was powered by the strongest volunteer team we’ve ever had, guided by the leadership of Race Directors, Vivienne Lochhead and David Lunn. Vivienne, a longtime Somersfield parent, running club coach, and national-level triathlete, brought her energy and expertise to organising the race.

“It was awesome to see so many kids competing, smiling, and hopefully beginning a lifelong passion for running,” she reflected. “Being able to witness that joy firsthand was a real highlight of the day.”

We also welcomed Jo-Rena Davis, who stepped forward to coordinate volunteers and managing logistics, she made sure everything ran smoothly. “The Fun Run is about more than just running; I was happy to offer my skills to support our students.”

This year, we introduced medals for our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category. These were made possible by an anonymous donor family who has strong ties to Somersfield and Bermuda running community. Thank you!

Special thanks to St. John's Ambulance and the Bermuda Police Service for supporting our event.

Thank you to our generous donors, volunteers, and participants. Your support has not only made this event a success but also contributed to athletics programme, helping Somersfield build on its championship success from 2024.

Somersfield Academy extends its heartfelt thanks to the event’s sponsors, including our anonymous medal donor, BGA and Pitt & Co., Arnold's Group, LifeThyme Wellness, Balance, Better Health, Speciality Cinema, Bermuda Bubble Tea, Coach Hammer Personal Training, and Scoops, whose generous support was instrumental in the event’s success.

And finally, a big thank you to Bermuda Timing Systems for making our second annual 5k Fund Raiser go so well!
