Secondary Divison Sports Day: A Day of Triumph, Remembrance, and Team Spirit
For Senior School Sports Day this year we were blessed with ideal weather. Little to no wind, no rain and overcast skies provided excellent competition conditions.
The students fought hard for the titles of champion boy, champion girl, and of course whether Makos or Tigers would take home the trophy!
After preparing in PE class, the M4 students did an outstanding job of coaching and officiating the field events. We are also hugely appreciative of the Somersfield Academy staff who, among other things, helped the M4s run the events.
There were numerous highlights throughout the day, one of which was the Eoghan Homan mile, named in honor of past pupil Eoghan Homan who tragically passed away last year. Eoghan was an excellent runner who won the prestigious front street mile while at Somersfield. Eoghan’s parents were there to present Jackson Langley and Gabriella Cechini with their winners' trophies. A huge number of the DP students ran the mile in his honor as well.
Thank you to Mr. Raynor, Mr. Dill, Mr. Richards, and Mr. Feria for their help on the day. Thank you to all the parents who came out and supported their children. Finally, thank you and congratulations to all the students who competed and gave their best effort, we are proud of you all.
