Somersfield Students Shine at Primary Pickleball Tournament
June 3, 2026 — Somersfield Academy's pickleball team travelled to the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium to compete in the Primary School Pickleball Tournament. After hard work and dedication, our students arrived ready to compete against some of the island's best young pickleball players.
Leading up to the tournament, students spent time developing their skills during Physical Education classes and lunchtime training sessions with Ms. Winstanley and Mrs. Troake. Students worked hard to qualify for the team, and their preparation was evident throughout the day as they displayed excellent skill, teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination.
The girls' division was particularly exciting, with Somersfield dominating the competition and earning an all-Somersfield final. In an impressive championship match, Aleisha Siddiqi and Molly Morton were crowned tournament champions. Finishing as runners-up were Annabelle Murphy and Myla Desjardins, while Gabrielle Saunders and Yuna Gelhar also had a fantastic tournament, earning a strong 5th-place finish.
The boys' division brought more success for Somersfield as the dynamic partnership of Ethan Adelsburg and Ethan Weaver battled their way through the draw to become tournament champions. Trevor Mills and Aiden Livingston, along with Spencer Mereu and Austen Carr, were eliminated before the final rounds but competed with determination, showed significant improvement throughout the tournament, and represented Somersfield with pride.
We are incredibly proud of all our student-athletes for their effort, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the event. Please join us in congratulating our pickleball stars when you see them around campus!
