Second Annual Secondary Sports Awards Celebrates Student Athletic Excellence

May 27, 2026 — Somersfield Academy proudly hosted its Second Annual Secondary Sports Awards, recognising the outstanding achievements, dedication, and sportsmanship of its student-athletes and coaches throughout the academic year.

The celebration highlighted an exceptional year in athletics, with 75% of secondary students representing the school across 47 teams competing in 13 Bermuda School Sports Federation (BSSF) sports. Students and coaches were recognized for their commitment, teamwork, and competitive success.

This year’s accomplishments included:

  • 11 Championship Titles

  • 47 Competitive Teams

  • Participation in 13 BSSF Sports

  • 13 Volunteer Coaches

  • 11 Student Coaches

  • 56 Students Awarded Trophies for Athletic Achievement

The event featured an inspiring keynote address from distinguished alumnus Miles Outerbridge, Carifta Games gold and silver medalist and 200m record holder. Outerbridge encouraged students to pursue excellence both on and off the field, sharing reflections on discipline, perseverance, and representing Bermuda with pride.

The school extends heartfelt congratulations to all student-athletes for their hard work and achievements throughout the year. Special appreciation is also extended to the dedicated coaches and volunteers whose mentorship and commitment continue to strengthen the school’s athletic program.

The Secondary Sports Awards continue to serve as a celebration of school spirit, teamwork, leadership, and athletic excellence within the school community.
