Somersfield Strikes First in League Campaign With Victory Over BHS

November 6, 2025 — The Somersfield Primary Girls Football Team kicked off their league season on our home field against a strong BHS side on Thursday, November 6th. It was a tough game, especially for some of our girls playing their first match of the season, having missed the tournament before the October break.

Stepping up in an exciting debut, Madison Ramsay took on the role of goalkeeper for the first time and did an incredible job, keeping the BHS attacks at bay with confidence and skill.

The breakthrough came from Myla Desjardins, who scored a beautiful goal from a free kick — a moment of brilliance that proved to be the match-winner! The girls held firm for the rest of the game, showing great teamwork, determination, and spirit.  The final score of the game was 1-0.

A big well done to our girls for such a fantastic start to the season. Special thanks to Coach Rychus for the excellent training and guidance that helped the team secure this win, and to Coach Cameron for stepping in as referee — it’s not an easy job, but he made it look effortless!

Here’s to a great season ahead!
