Somersfield Parent Hosts Fundraiser to Support Equity and Merit Scholarship
November 29, 2024 — Fatima Siddiqui, a physician and dedicated community leader, is leveraging her passion for fundraising to support the Equity and Merit (E&M) Scholarship at Somersfield Academy. As one of three parents instrumental in establishing the Interact Club through Rotary at Somersfield Academy, Fatima has long been committed to empowering students and building leadership skills.
She is one of the many vendors set to bring creativity, culture, and community spirit to the SPTA Holiday Market on December 7, with a “Giving Hands” fundraising initiative—Velina Wheatley, a skilled henna artist, will be offering her intricate and beautiful hand art on a "donate what you can" basis, with all proceeds dedicated to the E&M Scholarship.
“Having been involved with Interact since I was twelve years old, fundraising feels like second nature to me. This event is a wonderful opportunity to combine community, creativity, and a cause that I deeply care about,” said Fatima. “My daughter is so happy with the school; I want to highlight the transformative impact of this scholarship on students' lives and its potential to create future leaders in Bermuda.”
"This fundraiser is a powerful reflection of the strength and generosity of our school community,” said Kristen Scott Ndiaye, Development and Marketing Manager. “Fatima’s dedication and Velina’s art are just a glimpse of the incredible spirit we have here. Collaboration and passion tend to drive us to create meaningful opportunities for our students."
The E&M Scholarship launched in 2023, is designed to empower academically excellent students within the Bermuda community, providing financial assistance to those who demonstrate the potential to address global issues through local action. The programme embodies Somersfield Academy’s mission to inspire socially conscious, independent learners and offers recipients the tools to become future global leaders.
