Somersfield Middle School Field Hockey Teams Excel at BSSF Tournament
Somersfield's middle school field hockey teams showcased their skills at the BSSF and BHF tournaments on Wednesday, October 16, demonstrating exceptional talent and teamwork.
The girls' team started strong, securing victories in their round-robin matches against MSA Blue and Warwick White. Although they faced a tough challenge in the semi-finals against MSA White, losing in a sudden-death penalty shootout, they rebounded in the third-place game, defeating Warwick White to clinch third overall. The dedicated coaching staff, including Megan Troake, Emma Moran-Lee, and Amanda Paulos, played a vital role in their success.
Meanwhile, the Somersfield Green team also had a commendable performance. They triumphed over Francis Patton and Warwick White in the round-robin phase and managed a draw against MSA. Advancing to the crossover matches, they secured a victory against Warwick Blue but narrowly lost in the finals to Warwick White in another sudden-death shootout, finishing in a commendable second place.
The Somersfield Blue team demonstrated their strength by winning their round-robin games against Warwick Blue and MSA White. However, they were unable to progress past the semi-finals, losing to Warwick White but bounced back to secure third place by defeating Warwick Blue. The boys' teams were guided by the capable coaching of Megan Troake, Emma Moran-Lee, Aaron Lee (M4), and Louis Manning (M4).
Somersfield's middle school field hockey players exhibited remarkable skill and resilience, proudly representing their school in the competitive tournaments.
