Somersfield’s DP2 Biology Students Join Bermuda Is Love Campaign to Combat Hunger

October 16, 2024 — Yesterday, Somersfield Academy’s DP2 Biology class took part in the Bermuda Is Love #FoodForLife campaign, supporting the local community by volunteering at the First Baptist Church’s Feeding Programme. This initiative is part of the students’ CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirements, blending education with social responsibility.

The #FoodForLife campaign, launched this October, focuses on tackling hunger and food insecurity in Bermuda, emphasising sustainable food practices and equitable access to nutritious food. The campaign unites local organisations and individuals in a collective effort to address food system challenges that disproportionately affect Bermudians.

Students from the DP2 Biology class helped serve meals while gaining meaningful understanding of the critical issue of food insecurity. Their participation highlights the importance of community action and mirrors the campaign’s broader goal of promoting awareness around sustainable solutions for food access.

The collaboration between Somersfield Academy and Bermuda Is Love is a testament to the power of education and service, aligning with the school’s mission to inspire socially conscious, independent thinkers. Through this hands-on experience, students are learning the vital role they can play in shaping a more sustainable future.
