Strong performances at BSSF Middle School Track & Field Championships

April 29, 2026 — Somersfield entered 59 students across the two days of BSSF middle school track & field at the National Sports Centre. The team had fantastic results claiming 12 medals, 40 top 8 placements, and Shiloh Stevens earned the U13 Champion Boy Title. The sharks also finished 4th out of the 11 schools in the U13 boys, U13 Girls and Over 13 Boys team events.

Special recognition to two students: Firstly, Shiloh Stevens who paced himself perfectly to win the 800m, coming from being over 40m behind the first 2 race leaders. He increased his pace and took gold right on the finish line. Shiloh also won the 1500m race and placed 4th in the 200m to take home the champion boy title.  

Secondly, Evelyn Fahy had 2 exceptionally close races in the 800m and 1500m finishing 2nd, with a near photo finish in both races which is very unusual for middle distance events. Her time beat every other age group and gender on the day in the 1500m and beat the previous BSSF record that was 20 years old!

Congratulations to all our athletes who were risk takers and represented Somersfield Academy with pride, good sportsmanship, grit and determination.

  • Girls long jump: Nova Darrell – 5th (3.84m)

  • Boys 200m: Shiloh Stevens – 4th (27.70)

  • Boys 400m: Matthias Gentles – 5th (1:08.53)

  • Boys javelin: Hugo Adams – 3rd (29.38m), James Wallace – 6th (21.22m)

  • Boys 4x100m relay: 5th (56.99)

  • Girls 4x100m relay: 6th (1:01.04)

Over 13

  • Girls 200m: Aniah Tucker – 7th (29.71)

  • Girls 1500m: Kate Pursell – 8th (6:40.33)

  • Boys 100m: Jaylon Glasford – 7th (12.82)
