Somersfield Boys Secure 3rd Place Finish in O16 Tournament

November 19, 2024—Our boys put on a stellar performance at the O16 football tournament, clinching 3rd place overall after an impressive campaign.

Dominating their group stage, the team finished with a perfect 9 points, winning all three matches. Highlights included a commanding 3-0 victory over BI, with goals from Matthew Troake ’26, Shiia Davis ’28, and Amari Bean ’28; a hard-fought 1-0 win against Saltus courtesy of Grant Reese ’27; and a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Berkeley Green, led by Reese with a brace.

The semi-final saw our boys face a tough challenge against Berkeley Gold, the eventual tournament champions. Despite their valiant efforts, they were defeated 3-0 by a team boasting older players and members of Bermuda’s national and all-star teams.

This marks the second consecutive year our journey ended in the semi-finals at the hands of Berkeley Gold. However, the team remains optimistic about next year, especially with such a young squad—likely the youngest in the tournament. While Luc Campbell ’25 will graduate, the rest of the team will return stronger and more experienced.

If you see the boys, please congratulate them! They played with incredible determination, leaving the pitch with "battle scars" as proof. While Berkeley were the better team on the day, our players gave it their all, showing resilience and heart throughout.

With another year of growth ahead, they’re ready to aim for the title in 2025.
