Two Matches, Two Wins: Somersfield Primary on Form

November 21, 2025 — Our Primary boys’ and girls’ football teams travelled to Francis Patton for an exciting afternoon of matches—and both teams represented Somersfield with pride, teamwork, and determination.

Girls’ Match
The girls were up first and came out strong from the first whistle. Using the skills they have been developing with Coach Rychus and the other Lunch-Break coaches during their lunchtime practices, the team played with confidence and great communication. Their hard work paid off with an impressive 5–1 victory.

Our goal scorers were Myla Desjardins (4 goals) and Molly Morton (1 goal). Well done, girls!

Boys’ Match
Next up were the boys, who faced a very tough Francis Patton side. The first half was tightly contested, ending 0–0, with both teams showing strong defensive play.

After a motivating halftime talk and a new strategy from Coach Rychus, the boys came out energized and focused. Their determination resulted in a fantastic second half, with Trevor Mills scoring two excellent goals and Maddox Seymour Durham securing the win with a beautiful strike off a free kick. The boys earned a well-deserved 3–0 victory.

A huge thank you to Coach Rychus for his outstanding coaching during both the games and the lunchtime practices. Thank you as well to the other LB coaches who volunteer their time to support the students’ development.

We are also very grateful to the parents who helped with transportation and those who came out to cheer on our teams—your support truly makes a difference.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic showing!
